Familiar Interface with Healthcare Enhancements

If you have used AI assistants like ChatGPT before, you'll find BastionGPT's interface familiar. However, we've made many enhancements specifically for healthcare applications to provide a higher quality experience.

Response modes

This feature provides flexibility in how you interact with BastionGPT. Auto Detect: This mode automatically identifies the most suitable response model based on an analysis of the text, working to ensure the high-quality responses with minimal errors. Exact: Produces straightforward responses with no creative interpretation. Analytical: This mode takes approximately 10-15 seconds longer than other modes, but is ideal for generating detailed and logical analyses, perfect for complex problem-solving tasks. This mode follows directions more reliably than other modes. Creative: Encourages more innovative thinking, making it ideal for tasks such as identifying differential diagnoses or crafting educational content.

Chat Bar

The magic happens in the chat bar at the bottom middle of the screen. Here, you can type your queries and receive responses from BastionGPT.  Advanced users may use prompting frameworks, but as a beginner, we advise you to speak to BastionGPT as if it were a human assistant who was trained in your specialty. You can press the “enter” key when you are ready to submit your task, or you may press the submit icon to the right of the chat bar.

If you would like to start a new line in the chat, you can hold “shift” then press ”enter” to prevent the enter key from submitting the chat to BastionGPT prematurely.

Chat History and Search

On the left side of the screen, you'll find your chat history. This feature allows you to keep track of all your conversations. You can search through your chat history using the search bar at the top to quickly find specific discussions.

Rename Chats

You can rename your chats for better organization. Click on the chat you want to rename, then click the pencil icon. After typing the new name, click the checkmark icon to save it.

Create New Folders

Organize your chats and prompts by creating new folders. Click the new folder button, and you can drag and drop chats or prompts into these folders for better management. You can hide and show the contents of these folders by pressing the arrow icon to the left of the folder name.

Favorite Prompts

On the right side of the screen, you'll find quick access to any favorite prompts. This feature allows you to save and easily access frequently used prompts. Refer to the separate prompt guide for more details on how to manage your favorite prompts.

Sidebar Management

You can hide the left or right sidebars by pressing the collapse arrows at the top of each sidebar. This feature helps you focus on the main content by minimizing distractions, which is particularly helpful for smaller screens.

Clear Conversations

To clear all conversations, use the "Clear conversations" button at the bottom of the left sidebar. You can also delete individual conversations by clicking on the conversation, then the trashcan icon, and finally the "delete" button on the pop-up window to confirm the deletion.

Copying Text

To copy text into another system such as Word or your EMR/EHR system, you have two common ways. Certain methods will work better for different programs, so you can experiment to find which one works best for you. One way is to hover your mouse anywhere over the chat response, where you will see a copy icon in the bottom left corner. Pressing this will copy the text and formatting.

An alternative method is to simply click and drag your cursor over the text in the window, then right click and select copy. In certain programs like Microsoft Word, you can match the formatting of your Word document (such as font styles and sizes) by right clicking where you want to paste the text, and selecting the “Merge Formatting” icon.

Editing an Already Submitted Prompt

If you would like to make any edits to a prompt once it has been submitted, you can type that correction directly into the chat bar. For example, if the response should use a numbered list instead of a bulleted list, simply type in “Change the response to be a numbered list instead of a bulleted list.”

Alternatively, you can also modify your earlier query by hovering your mouse cursor over your query, then pressing the pencil icon. You can make changes, then press “Save and Submit.”

PDF Upload

The PDF upload feature allows you to attach PDF documents directly into the chat. This can be particularly useful for summarizing patient records, intake forms, research papers, or any other relevant documents with BastionGPT. To upload a PDF, click the paperclip icon next to the chat bar, select the file from your device, and attach it to your conversation. This makes it easy to reference detailed information and have BastionGPT analyze, reformat or summarize the content as needed. PDFs which are password protected or contain only images are not supported at this time, but will be available in a future release.

Voice dictation

Pressing the microphone icon lets you use a basic hands-free dictation into the prompt. For more advanced voice to text capabilities, our transcription service is available via the "transcription" button in the top right-hand corner.

Starting a New Chat

When you are moving onto a new subject, patient or request, it is often best to select the “New Chat” button in the upper left. This will allow the AI to not have to remember all of the data entered into the prior chat, which can result in higher-quality answers and will reduce the risk of the AI confusing data between patients or prior responses.

Settings Window

The settings window provides various customization options and is accessible by clicking your name in the top right corner that opens a drop-down menu.

  • Theme: Switch between light and dark modes for better visibility or personal preferences.
  • Manual Data Backup: Manually save your chat and prompts to a file for sharing across users or devices, or import data from other users or devices. Please be sure to keep that file protected if it contains sensitive information.
  • Automatic Cloud Backup (Professional Plus and Enterprise Feature): Your chats and prompts are backed up to our secure vault. If you would like to restore this to a device, or you have previously cleared your history, you may press the “Restore Chat and Prompts” button to restore those.
  • Billing Information: Access the billing portal to change payment details or modify your subscription. Additional capabilities are available by contacting our team via chat, email or online meeting.
  • Maximum Words Generated per Prompt (Professional Plus and Enterprise Feature): BastionGPT will automatically strive to generate a response that is as detailed as needed but not overly wordy. If you find that your particular responses are generally too long or short, you can adjust the preference via this slider. This is particularly handy if you find some of your longer responses get cut off.

Transcription Feature

BastionGPT offers a transcription feature, which has its own separate guide. This feature allows you to transcribe a live session or prerecorded audio file into a text transcript and summary. This also offers the ability to create a variety of other documents based on your favorite prompts. Our service utilizes the top quality voice to text engine for healthcare and psychology audio, which also supports the identification of up to four separate voices (“voice diarization”).
