How do I turn on two-factor authentication (2FA)?

Add a 6-digit code from your phone to every sign-in. Setup takes about two minutes.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds security to your account. After your password, BastionGPT asks for a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone, so your password alone is not enough to get into your account.

Before you start, have your phone nearby. Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, or any other authenticator app will work.

Step 1: Click Enable in Settings

While logged in your Bastion account, click your name in the top right corner and choose Settings. In the Two-factor authentication section, click Enable.

Step 2: Sign in again

To confirm it's you, BastionGPT asks you to sign in again. Enter your email address and password, then click Sign in.

Step 3: Scan the QR code

Open your authenticator app, tap + to add an account, and scan the QR code on your screen. When BastionGPT appears in the app with a 6-digit code, click Continue.

No authenticator app yet? Use the Google Play or App Store button on this screen to download Microsoft Authenticator.

Step 4: Enter your code

Type the 6-digit code shown in your app and click Verify. Codes change every 30 seconds, so if one is rejected, enter the newest code and try again.

You'll return to Settings, where Two-factor authentication now shows MFA On. You're all set.

Signing in from now on

Each time you sign in, enter your email address and password as usual, then the current 6-digit code from your authenticator app.

Good to know

  • Can't scan the QR code? Click Can't scan? Try this below the code to get a key you can type into your app instead.

  • Keep BastionGPT in your app. Deleting it from your authenticator app means you won't have codes to sign in with.

  • New or lost phone? If you no longer have the phone with your authenticator app, email [email protected] and we'll help you get back in.

  • Turning 2FA off. This is handled by our team. Email [email protected] and we'll turn it off for you.
