Every BastionGPT plan uses the same highest-quality AI models, so the intelligence of your AI never changes with the price. The difference between Professional and Professional Plus is capacity: Professional is designed for smaller everyday documents and tasks, while Professional Plus works with much more data at once, supports our full document capacity, and adds options like manual model selection.
Is the AI smarter on Professional Plus?
No, and that is deliberate. Your work involves patients, clients, and students, so we never provide a lower-intelligence model on any plan. Lower-quality models have higher error rates and are more prone to hallucinations, and in healthcare that is not a tradeoff we are willing to make at any price.
Whichever plan you choose, BastionGPT automatically routes each request to the AI model best suited to the task. You are never handed a less capable model because you chose the smaller plan.
What actually differs between the plans?
The main difference is how much data the AI can hold in its working memory at one time.
Document and data capacity. Professional handles smaller everyday documents and is designed to work with one document at a time, roughly a 30-page document. Professional Plus supports the full document capacity, up to about 1,000 pages per document and 40 MB per attachment, and can work across multiple documents in a single chat. Our supported documents article covers the limits in detail.
Manual model selection. Professional Plus and above let you select a specific AI model, including Claude, instead of automatic routing. Most users get the best results letting BastionGPT choose, so this matters mainly to experienced users with a strong model preference. On Professional, automatic routing can still send your request to Claude when it is the best fit; you just cannot select it manually.
The difference is not a usage quota: both plans are designed for unlimited everyday professional use.
So why does more capacity cost more? Our biggest cost is computing power, which in practice means electricity. The more data the AI holds at once, the more electricity each request uses, so Professional Plus costs more for us to provide. You are paying for a bigger workspace, not a smarter AI.
Which plan fits my work?
Professional is a great fit if you mostly:
Draft notes, letters, and emails from text you type or paste
Reference one smaller document at a time
Want the most affordable way to bring HIPAA-compliant AI into your daily work
Professional Plus is the right choice if you:
Upload large records, such as charts or evaluation packets that run hundreds of pages
Work with several documents in the same chat, such as a template, writing samples, and source records together
Write long reports (psychological evaluations, med-legal reviews, and similar work) that need templates and samples loaded alongside the data
Want the option to select specific AI models manually
If you are unsure, start with Professional Plus. You will experience everything BastionGPT can do, and you can step down later if you find you do not need the capacity.
Can I switch plans or mix plans across a team?
Yes, you are never locked into a tier:
Switch anytime. Upgrade or downgrade yourself from your account settings, or email [email protected] and we will make the change for you.
Mix and match seats. A team might have 10 people on Professional and 20 on Professional Plus, depending on what each person's work requires.
For team pricing questions, including annual billing savings, see Do you offer any discounts?
Is there a plan above Professional Plus?
Yes. For larger organizations we offer an Ultra tier, and single sign-on (SSO) is available with Ultra or as an add-on to Professional Plus. If your organization needs enterprise options, contact us and we will walk you through what fits.
How do I try the plans before choosing?
BastionGPT includes a free 7-day trial covering the Professional and Professional Plus plans, and your teammates can join the same trial using the instructions in your getting-started email. We suggest trialing on Professional Plus so you see the full capabilities, then adjusting from there. Details are in Do you offer a trial?
Still weighing the two? Email [email protected] with a sentence or two about your typical workload, and we will point you to the plan that fits.
